RESERVE UNIT

OUR PURPOSE


The Henry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has maintained an active Reserve Unit for over 40 years.  The Unit is comprised of sworn personnel to assist the HCSO regarding law enforcement and public safety functions for the citizens of Henry County. The Reserve Unit donates valuable time in support of the community by providing security and traffic control for many of the County's large events and activities.  Reserve Deputies assist the Community Relations Unit in many of the public events where they distribute literature and assist in adult and youth education programs. 


Reserve Deputies participate in a wide variety of law enforcement activities based on their qualifications and the needs of the Sheriff's Office. Examples include:

  • Enforce state and local laws
  • Control traffic
  • Transport prisoners
  • Assist in School Resource officer in community outreach and education
  • Assist the HCSO in agency emergency response incidents


Membership in the reserve unit is open to all citizens of Henry County who meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 21 years old
  • Must be a Georgia P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standard Training) certified Peace Officer
  • Cannot be a full-time employee of any other law enforcement agency
  • Complete a background investigation
